hi everybody.

i have a fairly simple problem. i have an object in illustrator (7.0) and i want to stroke it dotted but with some space inbetween the object and the stroke. simple scaling doesn work here because i want the space to be tha same all around the object (just lke when you expand a selection in PS).

i made a quick sketch to show what i mean:

how can this be done?

thaks for any advice.

If you don't want to deal with miter limits see
http://graphicdesignforum.com/?f=8&m=34960&g=35318#m35318 and scroll down to the quick tute I did using the word WIN.
Instead of applying a dropshadow goto Window>Stroke>dashed line (checkbox). You'll have to play with the spacing a bit to get it to look right.

Or take your arrow shape and goto
Object>Path>Offset Path. Set your distance in the little box and again apply a dashed stroke as above.

Specialization is for insects...
