There appears to be a problem in Corel Rave 3.0 where if you try to animate a group of items - items with fountain fills visually change even when no motion is used. For example: If I fountain fill a rectangle and stretch it across thirty frames making the last frame a keyframe, the fill changes from frame 1to frame 2 and from 29 - 30. No animation has been added, therefore, the fill should remain unchanged. Any ideas or workarounds?

Yeah... get Flash.
Rave is a weak attempt to add SWF production to the Corel suite. If it really worked, it'd be great-- because I love the Corel UI! But I tried working with it a bit myself and found it way too flakey to be taken seriously for production. Maybe if you're a masochist....
Have you ever checked out the Swish editor?

I've been a Corel user since version 1 - was hoping I didn't have to learn new interface, but as you noted, there are many strange quirks with Rave (I thought it was me!)
I'll take a look at Swish - is that another Flash editor?

Hey, I'm a Corellian from the 'Genesis' years too. (I'm still not sure if I should greet you or send my condolences!).
Swish? Yeah, goto swishzone.com and dl their demo. I haven't tried it in a while, but a couple years back I did and found it a lot of fun and (compared to MM Flash) very easy to use. But at $100, you gotta appreciate that it AIN'T FLash. Still, if all you're looking for is some Flashy movie stuff, worth a look.
Also worth a peek is *******.com's Glanda. Another 'fast and easy' movie maker.

THere's a 'Use default fountain fills' button when you save the file. Does that help at all?
I can't seem to reproduce what you're talking abour in Rave 3.

I'm not sure how 'use default fountain fills' will help but I'll give it a try. Perhaps it's something with my machine and drivers. Have you created any animations with Rave using fountain fills that you can send to me - I would like to try them out on my machine? Send to gerald.walsh@efi.com. Thanks.
