Sup Big Worm... I mean... Big Perm...

Just create a text file named autorun.ini

Drop this code into the text doc:

[autorun]
open=INSERT_FILE_NAME_HERE.swf /autorun
icon=48256.ico

Leave the rest alone... if you've got a different icon you want to display, then you can place a new .ico file in the drive and change the reference to the new icon file.

When you save it in NotePad, just be sure to change the extension to .ini. Once that's saved, stick it on the drive, and you should be set.

hrmmm... that sucks. I thought the autorun.ini file worked across the board. I'll try to do some more digging to see what I can find.

OK. I think you might need to export your fla file to an exe. That's the only way I've seen it work w/ the autorun. I'm sure there's another way, but as for now, I'd try to experiment with it. If you do it correctly as an exe, it should have the flash player built into the final executable file... and since you're looking to launch it off of a jump drive, then I'd be willing to bet that this would be the best route to take.

Autorun only works on PC's. I've run into this issue a couple times with CD-Roms.
In flash you can export self-contained files that don't require the flash player to run..they're called Projectors. The PC version exports with an .exe extension and the Mac version exports as the filename.
Export both versions and name them moviename_pc & moviename_mac. Setup your autorun.ini to open the moviename_pc file. If the user is on a PC...it'll open automatically.. If they're on a mac.. you just have to trust they'll click on the one called moviename_mac.
Make sense?

I thought the autorun.ini was a Windows only thing. Sucks that Mac doesn't have any sort of autorun feature readily available. Oh well... thanks for the clarification case. /emoticons/wink.gif

Happy to help Prem.. The kids great..getting frickin FAT! No more in the plans yet.. way too much work!

Anyway... YD, the autorun.ini IS a windows only file...the mac just ignores it. Mac's used to have an autorun script in OS9, but since the release of OSX they got rid of it for security issues.

Gotcha. I'm a little behind on my Mac OS's. I haven't been using a Mac consistently since OS9... thus my confusion above. Built my Windows box and got comfy w/ it... so I use Winblows unless I absolutely HAVE to use the Macs at school (slower G4 iMacs... VERY crippled for the kind of audio/video/design work I do there).
