Hey all, kind of a funny question.

A friend of mine from high school has recently decided to make her entrance into the "Adult Entertainment" industry via a website.

Knowing that I do some web stuff, she has come to me for the site. Typically this isnt the type of site I've sought out to build, so I dont really know all of what goes into them behind the scenes.

I've made and worked on a good amount of more basic sites, but never anything that involved memberships or credit card payment, other than simple paypal stores and what not.

What I understand right now is that she is looking for a fairly simple site, going for that "amateur" look. It will include photo galleries, probably videos, and things of that nature. It will need to have the whole "members only" content going on, as well as the ability to accept payment online.

Does anyone have experience with this sort of site, or have any tips, or can point me in the right direction as to where I should look for more info?

In my head it all seems pretty complicated, but I feel like it can't be as difficult as I think it is.

Thanks in advance...

Oh totally. I mean there's just GOT to be a "pictorial tutorial" somewhere out there about designing and coding for paid-membership websites, right? :D

Well, I've never done anything like that, but I did recently work on a site that had online payments for a conference registration, and I imagine it's the same general principal. Only, you know, with much, much less nudity.

Basically we had to set up an account with an online payment processing company. We have an HTTPS site that collects the registration info, including the credit card details. Our site then passes that info to the payment processing company, and they return confirmation when the transaction goes through.

I don't know, but there are probably companies that specialise in these services for the "Adult Entertainment Industry," as many non-specialist companies prefer to avoid that sort of business.

Also, it's true. This thread is worthless without pics :D

This is the internet. I'll be very surprised if there isn't.

well i think you have proper authority to "research" these sites.

once you get the site developed & need people for testing please post the site with user name/PW so we can help critique the site.

hahaha, I apologize for not including pics, but I'll make sure to post links when its done.

my brother, who runs a ferreal design firm directed me to ccbill.com he goes through them any time he does a site with members only/credit card payment type stuff.

Has anyone ever used them?

I forget the name of the company we used, but if I ever go and find out, it'll be to make sure we never use them again.

People seem to have this natural misunderstanding of a what a "simple" site is. To me a simple site is about 5 static pages. What your client wants is not a simple site. Once you get into the realm of online payment and managing user assets the site turns from simple to complex. A complexity which will require a back-end programming generally not within the skill set of a designer.

thats where people like ccbill.com come into play.

I have worked on sites like this before.
I can help, but for standard rates.

As 6644Graphics says,
ccbill.com are one of the better known, their are others however.
ccbill.com also have a very bad rep!

Be sure to plan out the access variables.
Is it images, videos or both?
I found that Video is best as pay-per-view.
