Here's what I'd like to do:

Create a thick brush in Painter that leaves a nice complete spectrum.

I'm new to Painter, and don't know how to define a gradient brush like this. I'd like it to look like a nice textured stroke of an oil brush as well.

Thanks for any help!!!

Mike, just start with a good textured oil stroke (from the impasto selection) using a relatively light grey as your colour. Then, add a new layer in the palette, set the layer's Composite method to 'Colorize' and start brushing in with a soft brush (even charcoal) the colors in your spectrum, where you feel you'd like them.

Painter does allow you to use a gradient as a 'source' for certain brushes, but not (at least in ver. 7) for the thick impasto ones.
