Isn't it crazy... one color on the monitor, one on the postscript printer, one in the pms swatchbook, and then varies by coated/uncoated, then you could even vary by color of paper! What a challenge! All good, but what a wow! :)

Yeeeeesssss?

I don't recommend it. While they will never be able to tear your resume in half before throwing it away or you could tie two corners of a banner, each to northbound and southbound elephants with only a little stretching, you can scratch the ink off the special coating with your fingernail if you don't overlam it. Not worth the trouble in wide format. Unless they've changed it recently. Press print stuff doesn't need the special receptor coating used for inkjet. I think FedEx makes their Softpak envelopes out of it.

And I certainly won't even start listing the things the UV flatbeds can print on... Wish I had one. They sound like fun. Better be for $500K.

500K really isn't all that bad. The print shop I job shadowed at said their main printer was several million dollars. Big ass thing with 6 towers and a catwalk.

You're talking about a press. That's different.
This is an inkjet printer. Like a desktop model but King Kong sized.
A UV flatbed will eat ceiling tiles for breakfast and glass panels for lunch. I've known people to print bricks in them. Wasn't easy though.
