Hundreds Of Gallons Of Heating Oil Pumped Into Wrong Home
Basement Flooded; Personal Belongings Destroyed
PHILADELPHIA -- An oil company delivered 100 gallons of heating oil to a Philadelphia home, but pumped it into the wrong house.
The residents of the home on Corinthian Avenue in the Fairmount section of the city said that the The F.C. Haab Co. mistakenly pumped oil into an old fuel pipe in their basement, even thought they did not have a heating oil tank.
The oil ended up flooding the basement, ruining precious mementos.
'Old family mementos, Christmas tree ornaments, stuff the kids left behind when they moved away,' said one of the residents of the house.
The oil company said it would send cleanup crews and would pay for the damage. Meanwhile, the residents of the home have no services -- such as heat or water -- because of the danger of fire.
