Ugh. That looks about as good as some root canal work I had last year. Maybe Burton will pull it off, but if it falls, it'll fall HARD.

I hope this movie bombs so Hollywood will stop remaking and complely destroying classic cinema.
***** Burton for Charlie
***** Van Sant for Psycho
***** Adam Sandler for Mr. Deeds
and ***** all you other hack directors & studios out there who bastidize & destroy original films with inane mind numbing sequals. (Most recently that pile of sh*t prequal to the excorsist)

well no offense to you Mil, but didnt the original 'Willy Wonka' basically destroy the book? I mean generally people right books or scripts before it is put into the movies, if you read the original book, then the willy wonka movie would make you dissapointed. I think this movie is going to stay closer to the actual plot of the book, as opposed to the original which mangled the book. my 2 cents
p.s. I liked psycho : (

I read an article that brought up a good point. Instead of remaking classics, why not remake movies with promising premises that flopped the first time around.

Somehow I don't think I can take John Depp seriously as Wonka?! Of course it looks like it will be even stranger than the first one. I agree about the fact that it is a serious problem that they can't come up with something original.

Alot of times studios hack down books to keep the time & unneccesary information to a minimum. Although I have never read the book, a lot of comparisons could be made to Stanley Kubrick's version of the Shining. He made alot of changes and deleted quite a few scenes so that it would play better on the screen. I LOVE the book.......but redone tv version made a few years back follows the book to a t and I felt it was not as entertaining.
I am surprised that Burton is following the original story line......this from the man who threw 50 years of comic book history out the window by writing Joker killed Bruce Wayne's Patents
