They have these radio stations. and what i dont understand is how do the radio stations make money. how do they start. etc etc. I feel stupid calling and asking, i think it would be awesome to start my own radio station, but i feel as tho Satalite Radio would be where to start it.

Just something ive been thinking about lately. Anyone have any ideas on this stuff? (figured it doesnt hurt to ask) /emoticons/smilewinkgrin.gif

my understanding is it's like a TV show persay. they bank on who is going to pull in the listeners. Ad free is a draw already. but they need dynamic people. Hence why Sirus got Stern and its a perfect platform for him.

Sirus didnt get howard stern, howard stern left to sirus to get away from the fcc and the stupid people in the business that have given him over 1 million in fines. At sirus people pay for there service which gives Howard freedom. He left millions of dollars behind going to Sirus, hoping and knowing alot of his fans will follow

Most radio stations are run by some of the biggest companies in the world, If your inexperienced I would suggest going to a college radio station, or a small independent station, some are hard to find some are not, starting a radio station from ground up is going to take alot of work, plus it depends on what bandwith you have available in your area

Infinity Expects Howard Stern to Fulfill Contract

Tue Dec 7, 4:00 PM ET

*U.S. National - Reuters

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Viacom Inc.'s Infinity radio unit expects ribald talk show host Howard Stern to remain with the company through the end of next year when his contract expires, a senior executive said on Tuesday.

Stern said in October he would jump to Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. in January 2006.

'We are counting on Howard (Stern) being on the air, but we are feverishly looking for someone to replace him,' said Infinity's president and chief operating officer Joel Hollander at the UBS Media Week conference.

Hollander's comments come amid speculation Stern may jump to Sirius before his Infinity contract is up, perhaps with Sirius buying Infinity out of the remainder of the contract.

'We are going to spend a lot of money on talent,' Hollander said regarding Stern's replacement. 'We are going to do something big at the right time.'

Asked by a conference attendee if Infinity would entertain offers to permit Stern's release, Hollander quipped: 'If you were to give me a check for $100 million, I'll let him go tomorrow.'

In October Sirius signed Stern, perhaps the most popular and bankable personality in radio, to a $500 million deal over five years.

'We are going to deal with it (the status of Stern's contract) but only when we are ready to deal with it,' Hollander added.

A Sirius spokesman said the company had no comment on whether the two companies were in talks.

Sirius chairman Joseph Clayton on Monday told another investor conference in New York that Sirius would be open to the possibility of Stern going there sooner if a deal could be arranged that was beneficial to all parties.

Viacom shares fell 20 cents to $35.90 in afternoon New York Stock Exchange (news - web sites) trading. Sirius shares rose 91 cents, or 11 percent, to $9.00, after rising as much as 17 percent earlier in the session.

Did you find that article yet socialD? I also doubt that Reuters would publish anything but accurate facts.

Know this: Spammers, Flammers and Trolls will be shown no mercy and given no quarter. They will be pursued to the ends of the earth and executed Mod-style.

Maybe we will all luck out and clear channel will buy up the satillate companies and we can have even more cookie cutter bland stations.

I was watching enemy of the state last night on tv..........amazing how close the plot mirrors the patiroit act.
