Eh what's the difference?
Can I get the OEM version it's like €100 for that and the Upgrade is twice that amount (online) and tripple that in the shops.
I'm going for the Professional Version.
I have Windows Vista Ultimate.
What's the difference in the OEM vs the Upgrade?
Anyone got experience in upgrading?

OEM is meant to be installed on a new computer to be resold. Upgrade is meant to be installed over Vista. Full version is meant to be installed on a blank hard drive.
As they all do the same thing, I don't see them selling a lot of full versions.

So if I got the OEM I'd have to format my drive ?

The only way I'd ever put a new OS on a computer is through a reformat. OS to OS upgrade is just asking for trouble.
OEM's also usually just the disk, no manual/box etc.

Not to my knowledge. I could be wrong, but they're all essentially the same software in different boxes with different licenses. I know you can do a clean install of the upgrade without having Vista previously installed on your machine.
Making the OEM only work on a blank disk would be a raw deal for the end user, so I don't think a format would be required. What if the user had to re-install?
BTW this is a good place to get accurate information: http://windows7center.com/forums/

So if I got the OEM version I could just install it over Vista and all my current files and programs will remain?

I may be completely off here - as I'm not the most intelligent when it comes to computer software. :o
If I am, please tell me.
However, my mother installed Windows 7 over Vista this week and has had nothing but trouble.
- didn't work with printer
- took anti-virus off hard-drive
- among a few other items missing.
I'm somewhat timid now about trying Windows 7 over my Vista.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Again, I am not very knowledgable about this type of information.

OEM's are also non-transferable, i.e. it can only be installed on one computer in its life. If that computer dies, so does the license.
