Decided to do a new self-portrait for a promotional item. Haven't decided what to do with the background, but would dig some feedback on where it's at so far. I posted the creative process on my blog @ graphicjones.com
Thanks!

Looks like a great start, I like it. Just don't forget eyelashes! :)

very nice. only crit would be to push the contrast int he dark and light tones in the skin a LITTLE farther.

the head and expression is very well done.
I would maybe add some highlights to the hair and beard (and eyelashes too).
not sure about the clothing - perhaps simplify it a bit, and the colours dont look right to me.

great work all round though!

nice work! i agree with paj about the shirt, the purple doesn't seem to go with the green. i think you would be ok with the 3 different greens. the face shading could be a little more defined as well.

It looks pretty good to me.
What I noticed right away is that the goatee is straight but the mouth crooked. The goatee should follow that same contour.

I agree with the others about the shirt colours being a bit odd together.
Overall this is not bad at all. :)

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I added eyelashes, changed the purple color in my shirt to a DARK green (nearly black), and I think it added depth to the folds. As far as my goatee, It's actually pretty accurate. I tend to smirk, however my goatee does its own thing most of the time. Weird.
I'll repost once I finish the promotional item.
Thanks again.

My husband's goatee is usually a little crooked too. I attribute that more to him not having enough artistic sense to know how to draw a straight line or to achieve perfect symmetry.

don't worry about the goat being a bit crooked, my beard is never totally straight... just the way the way face warmers grow

Man, my goat is NEVER even. I attribute it to not being able to use the clippers with my right hand. Every time I try it, I end up having to shave my face naked.

that's why you don't trim it :D
