I was wondering if any of you guys would mind giving me your opinon on a couple of sites that I have created. I'm quite new to web design as my main field is in printed literature.

I like them both. The first is very informative and has a nice layout. Perhaps a little too much information for an index page perhaps? The second is very stylish

Way, way, way, too much text on the first. No one is going to read it, they'll just go somewhere else. This is a common mistake people make when moving from print. The home page should capture the user and point out your unique selling points. Use the back pages for blah, blah, blah. Check out my sig site for an example...
