I've been working on a database driven website recently found at www.tmlfloridays.com (http://www.tmlfloridays.com) for a villa company. I have recently added an introduction animation to the site, just wondered what you guys thought about it?

well, overall, the site's not bad ... i like the color palette. but, there's almost always a but, i'd scrap the intro animation ... it's good, but it serves nothing but to delay someone's entry to the site. that in and of itself is a pain for visitors and can hinder business. i think it's too long to. i'm not sure if i like the menu like that. if i do a quick scan to get to where i want to go, it's difficult. i have to stop and spend time reading the menu to find what i'm looking for. it's a creative idea, but i don't think it's working. the most important and crucial component of a website that goes unnoticed is usability. remember, your visitors shouldn't have to think about what they are doing or where they are going, it should be easier. don't make them think.

I thought the idea was pretty simple... 5 buttons at the top and a left menu for quick searching for vacations? but thanks for the crits. The intro animation can obviously be skipped but uses a script to only show it once. I think that with sites trying to sell luxury villas you've got to give me than just static images... you gotta show that you are willing to spend some money attracting customers... plus it was part of the project breif.

About the animation being too long, i tend to agree that the loading time is perhaps too long but the actual animated part lasts less than 20 seconds... i think that anything less than that would require the animation to be scrapped.

I don't get what you mean about 'finding yourself stopping to read the menu' do you mean because its twisted 90 degrees?

Thanks for crits tho
