I can't believe that I have such a stupid question, but...
How the hell do I uninstall Adobe products to make room for the CS? I had to do it awhile back (and recall that I partially screwed it up because I trashed a couple of programs instead of uninstalling, which required me to be on the phone with tech support). Now, after looking through disks and Adobe.com, I cannot find instructions for uninstalling.
Help. Fast. Please.
Thanks.

On a Mac it used to be if you put in the old program disk and held down the option key when choosing Custom Install, UnInstall came up. Don't know if that's still true. Or just trash the file. Course that leaves stuff all over the place, like preferences, etc.
On a PC isn't there a De-install helper in the unload hardware/software program? Course I could just be talking outa my a$$. What I know about PC's fits in a thimble.

On a PC you go to Start>Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs...then choose your program and click remove.

Ooh... Silence04, here's your warning: you CAN'T just drag everything to the trash anymore... When I was upgrading to the Adobe Creative Suite, I completely screwed up my computer doing that (and seriously, I got lectured by a tech-support guy). Don't do it that way unless you know it'll work...
It's Mac, by the way.
Anyway, thanks for the info, everyone. I appreciate the help.

Same for PC, don't just drag to the recycle bin. It still leaves everything in the registry and context menus, etc.

Hey, just did A LOT of reading about mac programs.
what i found out was that applications in os x are installed and run as 'packages.'
so when you double-click on an application's icon you are actually double-clicking that application's 'package.' (right click on an app and select 'view package contents' and thats where all of that programs files are stored).
these packages allow you to simple drag the app to the trash if you want to remove it from your system.
the only things that are installed in other places then that package (or the folder which the package is in) are files which are placed in your Library folder... these files are either .plst preference files or other little User files that the os might use. both of which can be removed usually by doing a search for that application's name, inside the library folder.
sometimes manufacturers will include a uninstall feature thats used the same way you would install the application (the 'install' button will say 'uninstall' if that program is alread installed on your system).
other than that there is a freeware program called 'Deinstall' that you could use.

i did some more reading on Adobe CS and mac os X and there seems to be some major issues with the adobe CS software.
april, are you using Panther, and is os9 installed?
and what exactly was going wrong, did the installation not complete? did it complete but the apps didn't work?
