I am a youngster at all of this and really need to look at a lot of stuff to get ideas.
I do clip stuff and keep a file but I was just in a bookstore and saw several nice looking graphic design publications. I'm going to ask my family for a subscription for my upcoming b-day.
Any favorites or suggestions?

My favorites: Before & After (http://www.pagelab.com), HOW (http://www.howdesign.com) (It's a great publication, more about the BUSINESS of graphic design than many others - although I am a bit biased as I am a member of the publication's Editorial Advisory Board and have written for the publication) and Print (http://www.printmag.com). You'll also find others listed at CreativeLatitude.com (http://www.creativelatitude.com/links/links_design_magazines.html).

Umm, what about www.DesignerToday.com (http://www.DesignerToday.com), Jeff? It has hundreds of tutorials covering a large number of applications, and of course news and articles.

LOL. Nice 'plug' there. I was specifically mentioning offline print publications with Dunc asking for design publications others could buy as gifts. You've got to take advantage of the possibility of other paying for subscriptions! We need to get DesignerToday listed on Creative Latitude's resource page - I'll send them an email.

I like MacDesign Magazine. If you are a Mac user I definitely recommend it but even as a PC user it is good. That's my thought.

Thanks jeff. ;)
I filled out the form at CL but don't know if anyone responds to or reads them. Maybe a pull from you will boost that <g>. I guess i didn't read all of the original post, sometimes i scan things rather than read them all the way through, bad habit i guess. Leanred to speed read in high school (early 80's in an accerated program), It is great if looking for things but not good for reading and then providing feedback. I guess i forget to switch modes when reading posts here (LOL)>

Allen -

The CL gang took a much needed break for a couple months - and recruited some new volunteers for various sections. I know an update of the site is scheduled for February.

Communication Arts is a really good one too, they have their Annuals (Design, Adversting, etc...)
They are a really good source of inspiration

I like HOW (http://howdesign.com) magazine too. The printed version is very well put together, if a bit awkward to read with all that promotional paper stock intermixed. I hate Design Week, for what it's worth.
