Fee for copyright?

I just got an e-mail from a gentleman with a company who happened to find one of my designs online of a coffee mug and he would like to know how much I want them to pay me for the copyright. I have never done anything like this and have two questions:

1) What is involved with selling a copyright to a design?

2) What would be a reasonable price if I decide to do this?

If you sell them the copyright, won't you lose all rights to the work? What about licensing it to them? What about them paying you royalties for it?
