I have a G4 with internal zip, a client gave me his file on a zip disk. The zip doesnt show up on the desktop, i cant access the zip and I can figure out how to eject it either. The zip light just keeps blinking. What do I do?
Restart your computer and press the eject button on startup. You may have to take off the faceplate to access the button. Instead of a button there may be a little hole you can stick a paper clip in to eject the disk.
I wish I had something clever to put here.......
depends what your computer is set up for but, restart and hold the mouse button down

if it is stuck in there there is a tiny pin hole and you stick a paperclip in there to pop it

The face place should bend down if you push it in at the very bottom of that bay...when you see the drive there should be that small pen hole that Joe is talking about.

i found the little hole, and I am pushing a paperclip into it and nothing is happening.
did you try doing that on startup? That should work.

sometimes the hole in the faceplate doesn't match the hole in the zip drive. You gotta get one of the small paperclips, make sure you get thru the face plate and into the hole. Get it in there about an inch until you hit resistance and press gently a little farther.
Man, this thread could go bad real fast.

I've had experience with zip disks ever since they came out. I'm a PC guy so the original types were serial port on Win95 before the internal types existed. All in all the best solution to eject the disk when it won't come out: 10 lb sledge hammer. 2 or 3 good wacks and bingo; out comes the disk. However, you must carefully hit only the zip drive. You don't want to mess up your CPU.

Make sure that the disk is really in the drive, and you (or a friend) didn't take it out and put it back on your desk and forget about it. That would suck...
