they are no where near finnished, but im just looking to see what one you guys think will have some potential (if any), not really looking for critiques, just preferences on what ones people like the best ;)
oh and if you can access the attachment, i posted it on my new web server (only works when my computer is running, most of the time) because i know people have had trouble seeing the attachments on the forum lately for some reasaon http://www.liamhockley.cjb.net\UberLogoDesignIdeas.gif

Your link was messed up . . . should be www.liamhockley.cjb.net/UberLogoDesignIdeas.gif (http://www.liamhockley.cjb.net/UberLogoDesignIdeas.gif )
I voted #3. The others looktoo pac-manish.
You don't know what you don't know.
lol @ kool, did you see the vwanga post???
how dare you call me a noob (even if it is true, shhhhhhhhhhh! ) , lmao,
yeah, i am sooo close to just goin' w/ 3 it needs a lot of development, (clean up, colors, and stuff) but i can see # 3 as having more possiblilites and may be a little easier for me to make it unify w/ other elements, unlike the others that seem somewhat abstract. i dunno what it is but lately i been designing abstract stuff, lol
thx for the replys
;)

...Yeah, that vwanga fella's the devil! /emoticons/dry.gif I know you don't want one of my 'infamous' critiques /emoticons/blowingup.gif - so go with # 3, needs work, but has the most potential. /emoticons/thumbsup.gif
There, that wasn't that bad, no one got insulted & my pant's are still on, If that's not progress, I ask you what is?
Keep working at it Liam. /emoticons/thumbsup.gif
- I used up all my sick days...so from now on - im just going to call in dead.
yeah, thx man, thats kewl,
i havent worked on any of them yet, they are kinda like "initial ideas" sketched on my puter rather than paper.
i think i am gonna work on 3 some more, i think it could be a goodun ;)
vwanga, its nice to see you have "grown up" as a designer, jk, lol
no we are all friends :) and we may argue, but at the end of the day we all have something in common, we have a passion for Graphic Design.

lol, i thought it was a joke, hhahahaha
i think a lot graphic designers dont start out making lots of money, you have to kinda work your way up and get a lot of experiance ;).
i personally wouldn't mind earning not too much, cuase i like GD sooo much, it wouldn't seem like work to me ;)

you should probably start by drawing sketches and not playing with the line tools in illustrator. get a concept first.
WHAT A FRIKKEN INSULT , I DID SKETCH THE DAMN LOGO. !!!!!
I DREW THUMNAILS OF THE IMAGE THEN I DREW IT ON ILLUSTRATOR.
I AM SICK OF PEOPLE 'ASSUMING !!!!' THAT A AM DOING THINGS WRONG.
1ST I GET SOME IDIOT ASKING ME IF I AM POSTING A FONT, WHEN IT IS A DRAWING I DID IN ILLUSTRATOR
THEN I GET A RETARD TRYING TO TELL ME THAT I DONT SKETCH MY DESIGN,
THAT MAKES ME VERY!!! VERY!!! MAD!!!!
THATS IT , IM DONE W/ THIS FORUM....
I HAVE HAD WAY!!!! TO MUCH NEGATIVENESS W/ IS FINE BUT NOT WHEN PEOPLE ARE ACCUSING ME OF NOT USING IMPORTANT DESIGN PROCESSES.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LATER GUYS, (MAYBYE FOR THE LAST TIME)
IM SORRY IT HAD TO BE LIKE THIS, BUT THIS ISNT FAIR ON ME, WHEN I AM HAVING POEPLE NOT TAKE MY WORK SERIOUSLY.
DO YOU WANT ME TO VIDEOTAPE MYSELF FOLLOWING THE DESIGN PROCESS ?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
BYE

whoa man, ease up there. take it as constructive criticism. when i look at that it just looks like you were trying to draw weird letters w/ illustrator, if that was your concept then so be it. the real world is a lot harder than than and if you cant handle what i just said you may want to consider a different career field.

you are absolutely nuts. how do you expect to succeed in design if you won't push yourself and try to become better. i'm not talking crap. i'm not trying to screw up your determination either, i'm saying to try harder. those logos are weak and it doesnt look to me like you were trying.

Idiot? /emoticons/dry.gif
I can assure you Liam, I posses no such characteristic.
But to address your over-reaction:
We 'assume' because we are human, we were not there when you created your concept, and you did not explicitly explain your design process (as you shouldn't be required too). Therefore, we are left to naturally hypothesis our own conclusions as to why your concept lacks...sufficiency. In other words - your logo ideas do not seem quite 'right', thus we can only assume you are doing something wrong.
You asked us: 'what we think are the best logo ideas' - well, it's hard for us to just choose one, when they all need improvement & further development. Thus, I don't think Coma was intentionally trying to insult you, as I was not previously - but thought your identity concepts lacked quality execution, thus was left to 'assume' that you may have neglected to adhere to some of the suggestions he for-mentioned.
You concepts seem to lack uniformity, a very important element in typography; all of your letters should incorperate similar characteristics and traits. To me, I see unrefined, rushed & poorly conspired concepts - once again not an insult - THE TRUTH. This was not said earlier by anyone because you specifically asked to not be critiqued, but it is very difficult for all of us (who have all been where you are now) to just stand back & not let you or anyone else know where you are going wrong. You are in college now, you have to start thinking about the intense competition in this field, and where you are at comparitively. You know what Liam, the truth sucks - if you are unwilling to except it, you are denying yourself the opportunity to advance. I'm sure by this point you unfortunately & ignorantly have no respect for what I am saying - so how about this:
If anyone disagrees with my observational (& not malicious) comments about Liam’s identity concepts please reply accordingly...
NO ONE SAID YOUR DESIGNS SUCK, NO ONE SAID YOU SUCK, AND NO ONE EVER SAID YOU COULDN'T MAKE IT! So calm down and take our comments for what they are, advice - from people who know a thing or two about where you need to be to make it in this industry. Before you alienate me & Coma as the 'bad guys' - take those concepts and show them to your classmates in class, show it to your teacher, let them honestly critique your work thus far. Something tells me it will be very similar to what you just read. They need more work. Before you can even be a good designer, you need to learn to listen. Even in your previous thread where I regrettably asked if you used a font, there were some good points that you neglected to observe.
Liam, and I say this with utmost sincerity - this has got to stop, you cannot live your life avoiding the truth & over-reacting to every non-positive. Given your mis-interpretation of my comments in your previous post, you reaction was valid & expected - but here your comments have no merit. We are here to help make you a better designer, the only way we can accomplish this is to voice our opinions on what you need to correct in order to achieve this. You complain when no one replies, then you complain when someone says something valid and beneficial, do you see the problem here? The Showcase section is for people to post their work for analysis & opinions, if you have a problem with something that was said - than it is your responsibility to ask for clarification or confront said individual privatly for resolution. Directly insulting members of this forum is not appreciated /emoticons/nono.gif, and I for one am mature enough not to reply accordingly. Take my comments for whatever you want, Liam, but if you are so satisfied with where you are now that you refuse to accept honest counter-point, time will ultimately tell the truth. No apologies this time Liam - you have crossed the lines of civility.
Sincerely,
V - 'The Critique Nazi' - Wanga
BTW - Why would you want to leave a forum that is actively trying to make you better. I do not think anything that has been said to you was inspired by discontempt, I personally like you and admire your passion for design, but these immature antics only breed ignorance. I wan't you to stay Liam, and to learn from the wealth of resources & knowledge we offer here, but if you are unwilling to accept critiques from both ends of the spectrum, then perhaps you should come back when you have matured to a more civilized existance. If you get the chance buddy, please IM me so we can talk this through, for you are always welcome here at GDF - but you will not be missed.

...And how dare you call someone a 'retard'. It is both disrespectful & inconsiderate to Coma & those mentally-handicapped individuals (human beings) who have no conscious control over their actions & behaviors. Someone of your age should know better. /emoticons/dry.gif
- I used up all my sick days...so from now on - im just going to call in dead.
Liam, I hope you don't leave although if you do your post will go into the hall of fame as a great example of a member leaving in an extreame state of snit. /emoticons/lol.gif
Maybe you just don't have the temperment for the showcase/posting your work threads. This is no big deal, a lot of us don't including myself. I once posted a logo, got some negative critique and made a big fool of myself responding to them. But the showcase is just one small part of the forum and there is still a lot of ways to participate and learn and just have fun.
So don't bag the whole forum just because of this. I hate it when we lose a regular. /emoticons/cool.gif
Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?
im sorry, it was late last nite...
i am over it. i just freaked out a lil.
i need a break before i get banned from the forum.
:(
i need anger management.........................
but i seriously think that i should go solo rather than bugging everyone on this forum.
i will post my finnished work ;)
sorry again, i diddnt mean to offend anyone.
vwanga you are not a 'retard' i have looked at your portfolio and you have a great site. i'm sorry for offending you
and
coma i'm sorry i freaked out, i am getting stressed lately becuase i cant design a decent portfolio for myself, by sketching brainstorming, i am doing everything and i cant get anything that i am even almos satisfied. so i post the crap on here and wonder y people dont like the reject work.
im reaaaally sorry. but i really gonna have to lay low. i am getting the worst reputation possible on this forum. i dont want people to know me as the one that keeps freakin out and yelling and offending people.
i occasionally 'blow up' but it is probably because i am a nice guy on a day to day basis. ask my friends (i have many) and they will tell you that i freak out occasiojnally but thats it , people think i am a funny guy.
please dont think that i am a bad person :(

Thank's for being mature & contacting me Liam. And no one said stop posting, I just encourage you to develop your concept's more, and when possible allow people to elaborate on how you can achieve this. We are here to help you, if you accept it, sure they'll be something's you may not want to hear - but chances are if it's from a regular member, it's something that is applicable & ultimatly beneficial to your creative development. As I mentioned in our conversation, I think you are just moving to fast - which is leading to your creative frustrations. You should really focus on building a credible portfolio before even thinking about the website & logo. Your pointed in the right direction, your at the GDF, your in school - in time you will advance & have a better understanding of typography & color theory & production, ect. For now, just focus on learning the fundamentals, experiment with positive/negative space, learn the software. I think you can be a very creative individual but you just need to learn how to sufficiently apply it to production. I encourage you, while you are learning, to make up more graphical projects so you can post for our critique & assesment - that way we can guide you through the technicalities as you freely express your creativity. It takes time, everything takes time, but if you do not learn it the right way you may seriously jepordize your future.
