Hi, I would like to trace around a family group (25) in Photoshop cs, and then paste the tracing to a new canvas so I have only the siluette of the group. I have often seen this done in news papers so a name can be placed by each person. Thanks for any help.

It is called Masking, you will probably have to find a beginner tutorial on the web. I suggest doing a google search for 'Photoshop Masking for Beginners' or to something of that extent.

Do you have Illustrator?
For one of those keys, I just do a fast trace with the pen tool over the locked image to get the general shapes then put in the colors and the numbers.
Why go to all the trouble of masking?

If you are going to add names or numbers and want em vector, Illy works.
Or use Photoshop. Whatever works for you and your printer.
