its hard to learn design......
designing is a skill you can refine the talent but you cannot learn design..... you can have a good understanding of basic program use in 8 months but I dont think they can teach you design unless you already have a bit of a skill to begin with
8 months is really short.....i did 3 years at a university now I am finishing a two year design program and I found that two years is a bit short also even with having a 3 year bg in design

I agree with perm. They can teach you technical skills in that amount of time, but not much else– Unless they use somekind of clockwork orange setup where you are FORCED to do nothing for 8months but look at good design. by the way...if you haven't seen it before, this forum is all australian design --- http://australianinfront.com.au/

Maybe 8 months is a short time for learn graphic design, I was learn that for 6 years, but not enough to my own yet.
I am a graphic designer, I still my career ever.
I'm not study in melbourne, I'm Chinese gril, but I'm very interesting stay at this forum.
very happy to know you!
Go to a real school. Those boot camp schools will never get you a job. I once went on an interveiw with Charles Schwab, they are a very big company out here in NY. Anyhow I was just out of collage and they looked over my stuff they liked me and said that they would be calling me back for a second interview (Never did I called and was told that funding got pulled). The point is we were sitting there laughing because he told me about all these boot camp designers that came in for interviews and how he was happy he finally got someone who went to a real school.
What it really balls down to is what can you do? Your Portfolio!
