I know there is a more precise way to figure this out rather than just eyeballing it... Some kind of math equation, right? Help please??

I have to use an image that is 2' x 3' at 72 dpi, how do I figure out how large I can make it before it starts to look like crap?

Thanks...

play with it. keep upsizing until you cant upsize anymore without deteriorating the image

2x3 inches......thats as big as it will get, technically if you wanted to print that out and make it look REALLY good, you would make it a 1x1.5 @ 150dpi...get it??

oh yeah D-Frag is 100% on that.
Sorry but you aren't gonna have much luck improving the size or look of a web image :o(

For some reason I was thinking it was something complicated where you're supposed to multiply this by this and then divide by this.... But, yeah, it's just half /emoticons/ibf-iamstupid.gif

Thanks! I dunno what I was thinking...

Why don't people understand that web images aren't big enough for print??? Good thing this is a pretty small ad, but it's still going to be hard to make it work... /emoticons/dry.gif

thats cuz people dont know anything about resolution. they use 50 dollar inkjet printers that print out the same as their screen, so they just figure everything will be the same.

but...here's something that confuses people, if you work with the image in p-shop, you can interpolate it a little, this means you enlarge it, and the program 'creates' pixels where it assumes there should be some. so say if you have a red pixel next to a dark red pixel, you might get a blend of a few more pixels in between. that's why if you enlarge greatly, you get geometric patterns, that's the algorythms at work.

The answer for you lies in interpolation. Obviously you'd want a bigger image to start with... but when life hands you lemons...

I've used a version of this program and it works very well: Shortcut PhotoZoom www.trulyphotomagic.com/shortcut/site/content.php?page=ourproducts&cat=3&section=product_serie_info (http://www.trulyphotomagic.com/shortcut/site/content.php?page=ourproducts&cat=3&section=product_serie_info)

Information about interpolation:
- www.americaswonderlands.com/digital_photo_interpolation.htm (http://www.americaswonderlands.com/digital_photo_interpolation.htm)
- www.interpolatethis.com/ (http://www.interpolatethis.com/)

There are some other interpolation programs, and PhotoShop is also able to do interpolation to an extent, although not with the precise controls that other programs have available. Check out the forum at InterpolateThis.com, they go over other programs that deal with interpolation. There's a few different options software wise, and they'll go over the good and the bad.

bring it in PS and go to image size and click OFF resample (at the bottom) and then type in 300 PDI and it will resize it and then you can see.

it will be tiny though
