Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : First Attempt in Illustrator
ok guys, please dont laugh! this was my first ever attempt in Illustrator. the first idea that came in mind was to create a logo for a flower sort of company.
heres what i did. got a sunflower, placed it as template. then used the pen tool and drew the outline (that was very tricky!) then got the text and changed it so it fit with the flower head where the 'O' is supposed to be. added some colour to make it a little attractive. i like the green one but the yellow is an alternative.
so, considering this is my first ever attempt using Illustrator... please comment, critiquely please!
thanks!
There´s no design at all. Need more effort. Sorry.

It's not a bad start... but try to think about what the company would do, who their customers would be, and all that while working on the logo.
It's probably just the color, but for some reason the flower reminds me of a fried egg. /emoticons/blink.gif
Keep at it!!!

Art diretion wise, you got a simple yet effective concept there. Nothing wrong with that.
Visual presentation wise, I think more work needs to be done.
Don't trace the sunflower exactly! Not for a logo at least.
Keep the sunflower simple, take the features that suggests a sunflower and repeat it all round. Repeats can deviate a little to add life but not too much.
Font wise maybe try using one will less contrast? As in thinner.
Serif font should be ok I think.
fried egg, hmmm i see that! lolz
then again its my first try, so i wont be perfect at all because i dont even know whats what in Illustrator.
oh man, Illustrator is sooo hard to use!
anyway, heres something else i tried, not much different but just trying to figure out tools really.
It´s much better!, you are in the right way.

nice work, weapon, you are getting better and better!
here's a thought... try to make the leaf take on the same angle as the final 'L' in floral... that would give it a bit more consistency.
why not try some of these ideas, too! graphicdesign.about.com/library/portfolio/blportfolio.htm (http://graphicdesign.about.com/library/portfolio/blportfolio.htm)

Illustrator just works differently than Photoshop Weapon! It takes time to take it all in and learn how to work with it but you'll get it. I taught myself Illustrator bc we use Freehand at my college (well when I was there anyways....lol). I love Illy but it just takes some practice! You'll get there!

I really like the last one with the green leaf. It's simple and it lines up kinda old school.
Anyway, good work.

Hey Weapon R,
I like your logo - how's it coming on? Just thought I'd mention that I think your leaf looks a touch like a feather. But it's a great start. Maybe if you changed the shape a little - so there's not as many rides in it?
Searching for creative juices
ok guys please remember this is NOT a poster or any sort of Ad! its just me trying out some line drawing in illy willy, i need to start using the pen tool and thought do 'little' if any creativity, a poster hehe - some crap about getting steroids out of your workout - had a bad day at the gym today so i thought why not taget them hunks who pump iron (we all know they take steroids and they cant hide it)
