We're doing a design show at school at the end of the year and us second year designers are to create posters advertising said show. i'm working on three different posters right now and this the first of the three.
The first concept is combining art and real world design together to create, well, artistic advertising.

anyway, below i have two roughs of this first piece and am wondering what you all think about it? they are both 11x17 landscape posters and the only difference is the choice of fonts that i use, gills sans and vladamir script.

what do you think about the design, colors, layout and text? what can i change for the better or should i just chuck the entire concept? here in a couple of days i'll update with my next design.

thanks in advance.

I think that you must fill a bit the blanks, and remove the colour excess of the title.
Only an example:

wow. that was cool. i was trying to go for a white space thing, but even with those flowers in the corner that you added it looked even more damn nifty. thanks for the feedback!

i like your first one the best... though personally i think you should make the 2nd text grouping smaller and track it out much more, then turn you dashed lines turn them grey or make them more transparent.
also, you should brighten the Sunflower's midtones with image>adustments>curves (assuming your using photoshop), can't see the seeds

good job though!

REG- The flowers that you put in the corner, how did you go about doing that? did you trace them in illustrator or something similiar? i'm just amazed at how much cooler that looked. thanks!

I made it in Photohop. Make a mask selection, click on transform selection (or edit slection), move it to the corner, resize it, take a colour sample with eyedropper tool and fill it.

something just bothers me about the type selection....but I can' figure out what yet

I don't liek the fonts used i nthe first one, but the second is better...I like where you are going with the design and layout though. On REG's rre=work, I like the idea, but I don't know if I like the hard edges on the picture running along the bottom.

It may just be me but I'm not a big fan of the dashed line going on. I used to do that on almost all of my first projects in school, so maybe it's just me not liking it because I beat it to death. But otherwise it's very nice! I also like your rendition REG, especially the color fill flowers in the corner, but I'm also not terribly fond of the white hard edgeagainst the clouds.
