Politely tell a client that you do not want to work for them anymore? I would love to know, I have one in particular that expects me to continue on a project with them, and I am at a point where I do not want to work with them anymore because of there incompetence. Anyone have any suggestions? I already quoted them on this project and have done half of it, im about to start on the second half, and after dealing with them on the first half, I can tell you it was a nightmare, and if I take on the second part of the job I might actually lose all my hair by 30. Someone please help me out here.

1. tell them that your rates have gone higher (a lot higher) in order to compete with other agencies...
2. just keep delaying thier jobs and tell them that you are starting to get more and more work its only going to get worse over the next few months.
3. just tell them that you have just made a very big deal with a very big corperation and you have to drop some of your other clients in order to full fill the new clients needs.
but don't burn your bridges with them, they could now other people that want graphic work done.

Out source it to a newbie collage grad. That way you don't loose the client and you don't do the work. Win/Win situation.

Bud, if you have a contract on the second half of a job you quoted you are stuck with it.
Even if you quoted it sans contract, technically in good faith you are stuck with it.
Do what Court says and sub it to someone you know but keep the reins.
You could possibly wangle what is called a 'change order'. You put it in writing that if certain things aren't to you in a useable fashion by a certain date, additional charges will be added to the bill. We do that even after contract. Trick is to get em to sign it.
Next bid comes in, skyhigh it. Make it worth your while to deal with the incompetence.
edit... well, sans contract you can still get out of it. If they looked for quotes elsewhere and have only just chosen you, tell em the bad news that your temporarily overwhelmed... It sux to have to do that, but if you tell them in a way such that you don't want to 'compromise their design integrity' or some such, maybe you won't burn the bridge completely.
Specialization is for insects...
