OKay, I'm having major problems with saving .Jpeg's.

I just got a new working version of PS CS, and for some reason, when I Save As, .jpg, then load the image to the internet...I get a red x. I must be saving it wrong, but the default save settings have always been waht I've used, and they've never caused this problem!

I've tried playing with the Save As settings while saving, but I still get the same result.

The only way I have been able to save a .jpeg and successfully get it to appear on the Web, is to Save for Web, which I hate doing!

can anyone tell me what settings need to be clicked in the "Save As" dialouge boxes so that my photo's will save properly?

I would much appreciate it!

I can think of several reasons why I'd rather avoid the S4W route. Number one would be when I need to do a SaveAs JPG inside an Action.

No. 2 would be that sometimes I need a really big GIF and I have found that after a certain size, S4W doesn't like to do this.

Question: are you saving these as 'JPEG' or 'JPG'? That extra E can make a lot of trouble webside.

hmmm... well thats a good point. I'm not sure If I'm saving as .JPG or .JPEG. Are there two options in the 'Save As' Drop down list inside the dialouge box?

Use Save for Web. It has that name for a reason.

well I understand that I can do that. but more so, I would like to learn the reason behind the red X's. Thats never happened before, so I would at least like to know why!! =]

If the 'e' is in there that's the problem. If not, then it is probably in the HTML.

Maybe there isa problem with color mode: check out if yourpicture is in RGB mode. I think CMYK files will not load on html.
