HELP!! Finally got my Mac (after 4 years of begging), installed CorelDraw 11 and now I'm missing tools. The Edit Bitmap, Trace Bitmap, and Visual Basic optionsare nowhere to be found. The most important is the Edit Bitmap option. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/frusty.gif

Wow. You know, I've talked to hundreds, maybe thousands of people over the decade or more I've been haunting design/graphic forums, and I think you're just the second one I've 'met' who's actually brought CorelDraw with them across 'the great divide'. There should be a Pantone 527 Heart medal for people like you.

Question 1: does the last Mac CDraw version even include Photopaint?

Question 2: would you come over to my house and stick your hand in the hole I found under my front porch?

First of all, I'm too busy to learn new software, so Corel had to cross the 'Great Divide' with me.

Answer #1: CorelDraw 11 Suite includes PhotoPaint and it is for both Windows and Mac.

Answer #2: Hell no!! LOL

Raining,

I've been Corel since vers. 1.0. Still, I've also worked with FH and AI. I have CDraw12 and AI-Cs on my system and yeah, I still lean heavily towards Draw for any real production/drawing work. In short, if I ever jumped the Great Divide, I'm sure I'd be doing what you're doing too.

All that said, the problem of a disconnected 'Edit Bitmap' is not strictly a Mac version one. I've had that one pop up off and on over the years with various versions. It seems to be quite common, and the only cure I've ever found that really sticks is the PITA process of a reinstall (and re-tweak, Service Packs... and on and on...). That being said, I have discovered a fabulous new set of macro (unfortunately, it's in Visual Basic, so not for the Mac) that allows me to copy and paste both vector and bitmap data complete, and intact into AI, Pshop or InDesign, and now when I want to edit bitmaps-- I use this to go to Photoshop (which I like better than PPaint).

Still, I have some geeky contacts -- and I'll see if I can dig something more up on this one for you.
