When in p-shop, you can ctrl/cmnd click a layer and it will selcet all the pixels in that layer, but there's a way that if you draw a circular or square box selection around an object and do a key stroke, it will 'suck down' to only those pixels that are within the box. ...anyone ...anyone.....bueller.....anyone?

Either select the whole canvas or the image, if there are several an the layer, and hit v, the move tool, then hit the arrowkeys, either lef then right or up then down. The 'marching ants' will contract onto the image. It will even select those nasty partially transparent pixels.
