shape tween in Flash MX 2004

ok so im a noob in the Flash department. ive downloaded and just about memorised the free (and vague) tutorials, but cant afford the tutorials that actually teach you useful stuff. my biggest gripe at the moment is shape tweening.

i dont have any example .fla's on me at the moment, but i can describe it. so, i could have say, a hand which i want to make the fingers wiggle. if i use shape tweening it does the job, but occasionally things will go wierd and stroke lines will appearrandomly fromthe first key frame to the last. does anyone know what im on about? ive tried using tween guides but they dont seem to work (that or i dont know how to use them properly :P)

right on! i play ska trumpet AND have brute strength, too! there's so much that we share, that it's time we're aware, it's a small world after all.

you could make the fingers separate symbols. you could put them on their own layers, or make separate movies inside the symbols. there are a few ways to do it and keep your file size down.

actionscripting is fun.

if you can't do tutorials, you're boned. try a book. there are tonnes of actionscripting guides out there. get one from a library. tonnes of free tutorials, too. google it, or check out the resources section of this forum.

I'm gonna tackle this question... but I'll wait til Monday since I don't work on the weekends -ok, sometimes I do, but I hate it!


Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I was gonna answer your question, before you went somewhere else for an answer.
The answer itself isn't really simple since there are a lot of ways to do what you're trying to do, but I really wanna tackle this one, so I would like to put as much into it as possible... unfortunatly I'm in no condition to do it now. (weekend)

If there were any way you could post some screen shots, or post the .swf of what you have so far, that would be great since it would make my answer more geared to what you're doing at the moment, and it'll keep me from a long winded post on things you're not really trying to learn right now.
Either way, I'll put together an answer that'll give you some ideas you can use in all aspects of your flash animation.

Overall you have to keep in mind that there is no 'easy way' to do it. Anything in flash that is worth creating, is worth doing right.
Also, you can use these techniques with no action scripting at all. It'll all be keyframe animations, and tweens. Trust me.
If you've ever heard of Chris Georgenes, then you know I'm not lying.

Anyway, keep looking for a tutorial, but check back later on Monday afternoon and hopefully I'll have a solid walk through for you.

Ok, I really wanted to answer this one, but I have so much work in front of me that I know I definitely wont have time to get into it.

Wow! Chris Georgenes IS the man! Just look at his resume. That tutorial rocks. Everything he does is so simple, but the way he puts it all together is crazy.
