I just got Illustrator CS yesterday and I've been following this tutorial:
http://www.tiemdesign.com/tabindex-9/tabId-18/itemid-1559/DesktopDefault.aspx
and I'm a little confused about a couple of the steps. The 5th step, I can't seem to find what they're talking about.
I'm also confused about step 11.
I was just wondering if anyone could explain these steps a little better.
Thanks.
Dude, obviously the problem lies in that the image is of Bob Hope..I mean cmon, why not Ralph Ferley or even Jack Tripper...anyway, go to>window>brush libraries> artistic_calligraphic
In there is the 1 pt oval.
Step two: Draw the funny shape, then drag that piece to the brush pallet, it will pop up with a dialouge to make a new brush, choose art brush like they say, the hue shift part will retain the color you made it in. If you chose scatter brush, it would place lots of those shapes as you drew.
make sense?

#5 - Window>brushes then click on the options arrow button, and just select 'Caligraphic brushes'
#11 draw a shape and make it a custom brush. to make it a brush, click on the add new brush icon on the bottom of the brush palette. Its a folder with a circle in it.
once that is open, just follow along with the tutorial for making it a hue brush.
