I just wanted to share my latest WIP. This model is based on a Castrol Supra. Still lots to do but i'm getting there.
In the earlier shots i was having a problem with shadows and smoothing. the program i'm using isn't high end like maya or 3dsmax, so to clean up the mesh was quite the task. Keep in mind that this a program was mainly meant for flash projects but it is slowly developing into a legite 3d program, and under $200 US.
Here's the progression....

slowly but surely....

well, i was able to do a few small things, the lights front and tail, grill (i may change it..i'm not lliking the way it looks right now) and some smoothing out of the body, there's still afew bumps to smoothen out.

I was just messing around with some ideas for graphics and i was thinking how i was going to approach doing it. so here's some examples. the graphics are kinda all over the place, like on the door it gets cut off, cause iwas tired and lazy!!! but i just wanted to get a feel for it.
I'm still modeling some more parts and of course the graphics will look better.....eventually.

I like the graphics on the car. Good colors, and I like the way they bend with the shape of the car... not an easy effect to get down.
Power to the Old Schoolers! and btw, if you can't say something nice, shut the hell up.

it's called Swift3d you can see it here at www.erain.com (http://www.erain.com) It is a simple program and easy to use.
thanx for the comments all.

Cool! I hope one day I could do 3D graphics like you did Tyger.
Just one thing, maybe should continue the pattern on the door? Cos it's funny being plain white.

thanx guys!
max_nhk- if you read the above quote which read:
'I was just messing around with some ideas for graphics and i was thinking how i was going to approach doing it. so here's some examples. the graphics are kinda all over the place, like on the door it gets cut off, cause iwas tired and lazy!!! but i just wanted to get a feel for it.'</font>
I was just experimenting with the graphics, the top graphics are pretty much set but have to be adjusted and tweaked but the side and rear of the car still need to be done.
Stay tuned there's still more to come.

Sorry I missed out that paragraph. http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/blowingup.gif
Btw, does Swift3D takes as much system resources as 3Dmax? I tried 3Dmax before and it's just too much for my system to handle!

it's not as high end as 3dsmax but depending on your model and how many polys it can get a little choppy at times. You also have to consider how much RAM you have. What are you running?
If you want to check out the demo visit erain's site and give it a go. I believe I posted the link above.

Windows XP. 1.4Ghz Centrino. 512mb ram.
Usually my hunger for perfections drives my system nuts. Even photoshop has problems with how I handles the layers. But I guess it'll be good for some simple yet effective 3d graphics.
I checked out the site already. Will play ard with it when I got the time.
Thanks _Tyger_

swift 3d has a lot of potential for 3d in flash, but what i really hate is the electric rain has terrible support for the product

really retro? are you a swift user too? in my experience i've had no problems. If i had any questions or problems i'd get a response the same day or the next at the latest. But i know things happen. Usually though I find that you can get better support from the forums. Swiftdev.com is a forum that supports Swift and the community is pretty tight over there.

not much of an update but i started on the graphics, which still needs to be tweaked here and there....it's quite tricky!
it's pretty much similar to what i posted previously, i just changed around and added some other stuff. I'm probably not going to detail the car as i hoped. I've got some pressing work right now and i wanted to at least finish this car somewhat. In the future though i want to build a car that's more detailed. more pics to come, i have a blue and red one in the making and i'm going to do a quick and fun animation eventually.
oh i also adde the GDF to the front bumper/DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/cheers.gif

are you actually animating the stuff in swift3d? i used it for a small bit of animation while on a contract a few years back...meh. but it's my fav of any 3d program. i generally hate them all, but this got a 'meh'.

i have yet to animate this model but it is in the works. I do agree with loving Swift. It's not as capable as the other higher end programs but its easy to use, affordable and you can do some pretty cool modeling with the right technique. Version 4 has more advanced modeling features so it's quite fun.

a few more renders.....this has definitely been a labour of love, alot of work in this puppy!
Anyway, still have to do the graphics for the back area, seats, steering wheel, and smoothen out some of the rough edges, and a little welding here and there.
