I merged 6 map panels into one map and printed it out at 16' x 22'. I then purchased a plexiglass panel and placed it over the map. I handed the two to my supervisor who used dry erase markers to indicate the frequently used roads. Bold blue dashes were used to indicate the loop route and red arrows to indicate one-way streets. Question: What application (Photoshop or Illustrator) and tools do I use to place bold dashes and arrows on the streets that are frequently used?
Hi mykl_Dunn, welcome to the forum. I would place it in Illustrator then place your annotations on a new layer above it. Pen tool all the way. /emoticons/cool.gif

I tried that before the original post and it is affecting the area outside the path when I turn a corner. I was thinking more on the lines of selecting a line and dropping symbols (dashes or arrows) along that line. Then being able to rotate the symbols to be consistant with the direction.

If you select a line in Illy, Copy it and psate in front and then just stroke it with a dashed line or whatever you like

Is anyone going to point out that Thomas Maps probably has a copyright against reproduction?
Unless maybe if these are for personal/internal use? Maybe.

They will be for internal use but they will not be for free nor at cost.

I don't think the 'not free' part is a good thing. Doesn't matter if you are making a profit or not.

A local designer told me that I should be o.k. if I cropped out any reference to Thomas Guide. Kinkos didn't seem to have a problem with printing it.

I'm gonna print the Mona Lisa and call it mine. Well after I crop out Leonardo's sig of course.
If Kinkos didn't make you sign a release to print it, someone slipped up.

I'm sure Thomas will appreciate your adherence to copyright laws. If Thomas made a map book that didn't have a poorly designed spine I would consider going by the book. As for me, I have a map.
