I recon its a font problem, too many fonts installed that is causing the problem but i've jsut installed suitcase 10 and deleted all but system fonts (i hope/think). any ideas to this? anything more than one page documents are impossible to open. cheers Oyv

Which Word version?

its os 10.2.8 and word is part of office x. cheers

Have you run the Office X update?
Also if you are running virus protection, try shutting it off.
I'm not too up on MS products but I do use Office X on 10.2.8 and it runs fine. No virus protection on that particular machine.

In suitcase check your open fonts tab (lower left corner) I have 31 open on startup. Word opens pokey for me when there is a lot of fonts open.
You know, there's like a butt-load of gangs on this forum. This one gang kept wanting me to join because I'm pretty good with a bo staff.

I am running OS 10.3.7 with Suitcase X1 and Word 2004 and I noticed the same thing. If I have a lot of fonts open, Word will take a long time to open. If I turn off the fonts, it will open much faster.
