I think you need to do what your proffessor said to do, there is plenty of time for creativeness, your their to learn the in s and outs of the design programs. Wait for the right time to show your skills. But, you have to learn them first. Everybody in your class is creative im sure, but it will be the ones that can take whats in their mind and translate it to a design that will succeed. By the way nice job. Only advice I have for you is, do exactly what is asked of you then try different things on your own time.

is the overall label navy? Think of how you like your water to look, and work from there....
'To Design is much more than simply to assemble, to order, or even to edit; it is to add value and meaning, to illuminate, to simplify, to clarify, to modify, to dignify, to dramatize, to persuade, and perhaps even to amuse.' --Paul Rand
I agree with whit3... recreation, is a very important part of a graphic designers job. If a customer gave you that assignment, to recreate something that they may have drawn, and you put your own tweeks in it, they won't appreciate it.
Believe me!
It's great that you're using your imagination though... you can do something like this for each project... put your own spin on it, BUT, hand in the one that you followed the directions with. Your imagination needs practice too!

beyond what was said above.. .which is true you will be called upon to create something AS IS.
This isn't all that bad for your first major project.

thanks guys... I appreciate your comments... the color actually transparant... but because the original label scanned.. it ended up to be navy like that...
And for the assignment thingy... i actually misread the direction.. i found out that we had to recreate the label.. the day before it due.. but because i like the label that i've made... i didn't fix the label
I kinda nervous first.. i was afraid that the teach gonna reduce my points because i 'retouch' the label..
but he said it's ok.
Thanks guy for your response... this forum really usefull.

Whoa, looks like you made a rookie mistake there bud. If i was your teacher I would have your head for that work. <---'Just teasing.' Yeah, make sure you stick with what the teacher gives you and put your creative skills to work. No need to worry you will get better as you move on. You may want to look at some designs book to keep you motivated and your ideas fresh. Good luck with school.
