Here's the trailer www.apple.com/trailers/independent/ong_bak-tlr.html (http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/ong_bak-tlr.html)

My wife was fortunate enough to get tickets of a screening of Ong-Bak featuring Tony Jaa.
I was a little hasitant to watch this cause i've heard nothing of it and in the beginning it really doesn't look like much. But without spoiling anything this movie was KILLER!!!! The fighting scenes are the best i've seen in a LONG time! No cheesy cables and strings like Jet Li, no overdone efffects that ruin the movie like Hero (sorry just my opinion) This guys all real and i'm telling you his moves are wicked! The trailer doesn't do much justice to this movie.

There were some things that weren't strong points of the movie. It has that typical low budget chinese movie look, some of the fight scenes were in dark places, the lighting could've been better. It is sub-titled, but it didn't bother me, and depending on who you are the storyline is a little cheesy, but I could still relate to the character.

But trust me, if you're a fan of action fighting films you have too see this when its out. /emoticons/thumbsup.gif
The fighting scenes and the action sequences make up for what it lacks in my opinion. I'm going to see it again with the guys!

Cool, one to look out for.

I too thought that 'Hero', 'Crouching Tiger' and 'House of flying Daggers' were poor. I like a good fight in a film but i'd rather watch a macho brawl in the film Roadhouse than see poor wire work and fancy swordplay in the hopeless attempt at 'Art'.

I have good hope for Ong-Bak... we'll see

I haven't seen House of Flying Daggers yet, but I think those types of movies are getting to the point where the effects and use of cables are getting too much. What was good about Ong-Bak was that it was a simple guy, not the best lookin' a regular dude with some mad skills. He's a Thai boxer, and to see Thai fighting done the way he did it was absolutely awesome. Some of the moves are moves i've never seen before.
