I like to dress up like a penguin, then cover my entire outfit with bubble wrap. find my way down to the local starbucks (usually via bus, because the beak gets caught in the steering wheel) I then proceed to find someone completely oblivious to what is going on and throw myself onto their table, rolling and quacking and popping. Its a hoot, usually I get hot coffee spilt on me, but the suit and the bubblewrap protect me.

This kind of creative haiku is sure great fun, and really gets the frontal lobe stimulated to its highest capacity.

I never quote myself because I am so immensely modest but I'm making an exception here. Oh my golden tongue :LOL::

I think a lot of the time when people make posts like Swanks it's because they fail to realize that this is not a public forum where free speech is guaranteed. Think of it this way. Allen owns a private club on Boobie Island, It's right on the beach of course. Allen's a great guy so he hands out memberships to pretty much anybody who wants one. We are all welcome as his guests anytime we wish to visit. He also may deny any of us our membership privileges for any reason any time he wants. Some of us who have been coming to the club for a very long time act as Allen's hosts. We help out and keep an eye on things. There are lots of rooms & lounges in this club. Some are private where two members can discuss something in private. Others are full of people talking shop or just shooting the poop. New people are welcomed and encouraged to join in where ever they like. Occasionally a member who has just walked in the door five minutes ago (metaphorically speaking) will stand up and say some outrageous, insulting thing that pisses off a large number of members and one or more of the hosts/mods bad enough that we just show them the door and get back to the party.

In an act of randomness (not to mention heavy boredom at the moment), I would like to extend my hand and show appreciation for....

...the 'Step and Repeat' command.

Once stuck as an artist using copy and paste along with the 'Snap' option to get things to line up just right, there was no greater moment than when my prececessors showed me a new way...a better way...a more civilized way. For many years now, ten-up business cards have shuddered in fear at how effortlessly I spawn them on my page. With the right measurements put in, Step and Repeat knows just how to set everything right in place. It's so smart!

It also has come to my rescue when the mean old boss tries to accuse me of not lining up everything on the page properly, and a simple printout and comparison to the paper plate proves that the printer had burned the plate wrong.

My underlings are seriously in awe whenever I show them this mighty power and make a whole page of items poof out of thin air. I'm telling you, Step and Repeat could seriously get you laid. /emoticons/yeah.gif

So Step and Repeat, you keep doing what you do, you pimp daddy of reproduction.

Next time I'll take some time to give the proper tribute to 'Command+Tab: The Slacker's Best Friend at Work.'

That 'tear' of mine is about to turn into me 'tearing' someone's head off, here is how I got to spend the very first few minutes of my Friday this morning....

First off, I did a simple little project a few days ago. It was business cards for a college, all I do is just go in and type in the names on templates I have preformatted. Their 'titles' are always identical, too. Names are always in lower case. You get the idea.

Usually there are hundreds of names, but there was only one name that day on the customer's fax, an E-Rika Brock. Next to it in parenthasis was (exactly as shown). When I looked at the name, I thought the dash was strange, so after questioning the boss's son, I typed it out as 'E-Rika' and it seemed obvious that 'exactly as shown' was referring to the dash. So the proof is faxed.

Not FIFTEEN seconds after I walked in the door this morning (still had my car keys in hand), mein fuhrer comes tearing around the corner with that job jacket and asks the old, lame and tired 'do you ever look at things before you proof them?' question whenever he has to let off steam at me. Then he asks me what 'Exactly as shown' means, to which I replied 'Exactly as shown.' So he asks what the difference between what I had typed and what was on the fax was. I told him there was absolutely no difference (no typos, everything was correct) and that I had indeed second questioned the 'dash' in the name. Then he said to look again, and I told him that despite the person not displaying a title alongside the name, the college ALWAYS assumes that the normal title goes with the name (and even if not, it's an understandable mistake and the damned PURPOSE of proofs). But no, there was nothing wrong with the title. What was he yelling and screaming at me for? Here it comes kids, hold on to your hats.....

The name was typed in ALL CAPS on the fax.

I stared at him and uttered (in these exact words). 'That? You're griping at me for something as petty as THAT?' (if I could have feigned heavy laughter at that point, I probably would have broke down laughing).

For starters, LOTS OF PEOPLE SEND ME FAXED NAMES IN ALL CAPS. That makes sense, lower case letters on faxes can blur together and make it harder to read. It doesn't necessarily mean they want it in all caps, and if they do, they usually type a small message, like 'E-RIKA BROCK (in all caps)', you get the idea. Not to mention that all the times I've done this business card, the names have always been in regular case so you would think the customer would add a note for the anomoly. But anyway, the customer merely sent back a fax noting to capitalize it, it wasn't like they phoned back angry or anything. Mein fuhrer was yelling at me on his own accord.

Although I was a sniveling little kid that took everything in my first year here, something they probably don't like is that I eventually got so sick of it that I stand up for myself now. Whenever they fire at me 100%, I throw it back 120%! ('Do your worst, for I will do mine!')

So after I made that comment above, I said everything I said above, how such an occurance is simply understandable, how if I capitalized it, then I'd would be yelled at for not making it regular case like all the other business cards, etc. Mein fuhrer backs off and says in a compromising tone 'I know....I know.'

I hate this place so much. But that occurance above doesn't even come close to when I got yelled and screamed at for a job I didn't even work on, where I was handed a disc and told to simply just print it out and I did just that, no font errors, no problems, etc. (Mistake was customer's doing)
