I have a personal project --invites and collateral for in-laws 50th anniversary.
They were married in 1961, so I am looking for inspiration of design in that era.
Mostly the modernist light, humorous stuff. Space age possibly.
Font suggestions appreciated too.
Ads, magazine covers, packaging would be great.
Any web page collections links would be appreciated.
(and yes, I have done some Googling, just looking for stuff that has escaped my gaze)
Thanks a lot.

This has some magazines (http://blog.modernmechanix.com/covers/) and selected magazine articles from several different decades that you might find useful.
I used to have a bookmark to a ton of old magazine ads organized by product and year, but I seem to have lost it. I think it may have originally been posted by Print Driver or Broacher.

As far as Type choices, Clarendon was fairly popular, as well as Latin, and rather casual script and cursive faces. A motif you see often enough is a large word in some script looking lettering, possibly halftoned or in color, with another word superimposed in a sans.
Have you checked Vintage Ad Browser (http://www.vintageadbrowser.com/)? You can look at ads in various categories by decade.

^^ Thanks Nobert. I think that's the one I was trying to find. Re-bookmarked!

Thank you, Yossarian, I bookmarked the link you posted as well. Can't have too many references to old magazines.

^^I had to view it with a different browser that's not all decked out with ad-blocking stuff.
maybe I'll try it in safari.

Sometimes, depending on which category you choose, there may not be any ads for a particular decade, at times I've had to keep going forward until I hit actual visual content.
I also have Adblock Plus with the Firefox, and I don't think I've encountered this problem.
