Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : illy vector to ps shape, help please!
Hi there. First off, hello! I seem to have found some super nice forums here.....and I'm wondering if perhaps someone could shed some light on this little problem i have come across:
i'm exporting vectors into ps7, to convert them to shapes.
when i use shapes that are closed, it works fine. but when i have an open shape it closes the path up automatically.
how can i fix this. i've looked and looked and i'm sure it's the simplest thing.
save me :(

Look at your shape in Illustrator, are you sure there is absolutely NO FILL applied to that line? Even a solid white might disguise it and mess it up.

If I'm not half asleep (which I could be) ... it looks like you just need to convet your path to a shape (object/path/outline stroke) and then you have a fill which whould go into photoshop nicely.
If I am half asleep and this doesn't help at all, i apologize.
ok i did that but it closes the path up.i dont want that, i just want the swirl to be like it is.

Naw, the stroke isn't a fill, that's fine. I asked because that preview window looks identical to what happens when you apply a fill to an unclosed line in Illustrator.
To tell you the truth, I rasterize my stuff coming out of Illustrator as it's going into Photoshop, so I don't fool with the Shapes option very much...thus I'm personally stumped.

what i think i have to do is define a start and end to that path. but i don't know how. that way when i import the vector, photoshop won't close the path.

check your path pallete in ps on top, make sure it is not set to fill it
