If you already have a previous full commerial version of Photoshop alone, you can buy the cheaper upgrade packages for both the standard and premium.

If not, you can always try to snag a full version of Photoshop 4 or 5 off of Ebay for a cheap price, but be careful, LOTS of academic software on there. Make sure that the product is a commercial version and either unregistered, or the seller transfer the rights over via an printable online form.

Bought the Mac version of Photoshop 4 for under $100, then bought the Adobe CS Suite Standard for $550.

They should be fine depending on the seller, it goes without saying they should have a good rating.

Also everything I said above applies too, avoid the academic versions (and careful, they sometimes cleverly disguise this) and buy unregistered.

Keep in mind that if you buy from a physical store, you could return it (based on store policy) if there is a problem...might not be so easy on Ebay.

The seal on the CD case of an Adobe educational product will have ED in the id number (not the serial number). Don't break the seal if you get one.
