welcome to the forum, ryan1. i studied in the uk, too - where are you studying? just curious.

how did you do on your 3000 word essay? since you've already done research for that one, why wouldn't you just find out where the bulk of the information was and use that as a basis for this new one?

dissertations at this level should stem from ridiculous amounts of research. you should (or should have):

- chose a topic of interest. you can keep it faily vague
- research the begeezus out of it. for real.
- sort the research into catagories or sections. it often helps me to sort it into different piles on the floor. and yes, i said 'piles'- that's how much research you should have. (not the 'sitting on a wooden library chair for too long' sort, but it might get you bonus marks)
- discard any information that doesn't support an argument or is surpurflous in any way. be ruthless.
- nail down your final essay topic/argument from the strongest research material that you have.

and, as you're studying at the hons level, your school should have made you do some essay writing exercises in level one contextual studies/art history. stick to their structure so that you have an argument if you don't get the mark that you feel you deserve.

good luck.
