Maybe I've passed right over this topic in the help file for Indesign CS but..... I will be printing on colour paper and therefore choose paper setting for my text so that it would print out white. But this didn't work. What am I doing wrong and how can I get it to print white text?
cheers

There was probably no white ink in the box your printer came in.
They charge extra for white ink. An awful lot.
Perhaps you should take your printer back to the store
they'd probably love to hear all about it.

OMG! LMOA @ Keyare.
No white INK???
Horrors.
Press people have it (some alien types like Keyare actually use it).
There is a Durst Rho out there that prints white. It's a $500K UV printer. Only does big stuff though, not paper sheets.
There are a couple others not quite as expensive. Almost. All big.
What I like is when someone asks for white on duraclear. Makes my day.
Sorry for the humor Peter. But someone had to ask eventually.

Man, and here I was going to suggest sticking an open bottle of white out into the cartridge holder.

Man, I saw this post last night and I thought of so many ways to answer, but none would actually help, so I didn't post.
My thoughts were very similar to 'suggest sticking an open bottle of white out into the cartridge holder.'
But as my mother always said, 'if you have nothing nice to say . . .'
Anyways, good luck.
You don't know what you don't know.

Peter have you ever noticed that when you print with a laser printer on white paper and you have somthing white in the design that nothing actually prints? Have you ever noticed that it is just the unprinted white paper not white ink? You said it yourself CMYK cartridges; no white. Man I hope somebody is pulling our legs with this post.
Good laugh though.

My first thoughts were exactly that, can't print white with CMYK! But , I had to make sure in case I was over looking something and there was some trick. But at least we all had a good laugh. I'm glad I gave everyone something to laugh about!

Um...Defjoe?
The CMYKW... That is the ink order for the Rho printer I mentioned. Honest. It will get more common, trust me on that one.
Yeah, thanks Peter for being a good guy about it.
