Jumbled type when opened in Illustrator 10

I am having an issue in Adobe Illustrator when I open an EPS file with created from another software like Quark or Adobe Acrobat it jumbles the type in the file all up. Have you guys and gals had this issue?

One of the wonders of saving Quark as eps. Is the Acrobat file from Quark too?
Yes I've seen it. Don't know a cure.

Was trying to find a cure for this last night (still no luck).

By jumbled do you mean the conversion to point text? (Breaks in the text lines at very unhelpful places. Get used to it if you create or receive legacy export files from Illy CS)

Or do you mean the actual shifting of a section of text to a completely different location on the page?

The point text is normal. The shifting is some kind of bug that has been very hard to nail down.

i'm curious ... the type in question, is it arial or times new roman by any chance?

You know, I'll have to check that idea. I've heard that Impact messes up sometimes too.

yeah, when i worked at a printshop, we had to go in and change all arial, times new roman and impact (forgot about that one) to helvetica, times, and haettenschiler respectively. there's just something quirky about those fonts...and they are so common, people used them all the time.
