Hi I could use some opinions on what printer to buy. I currently have the Epson stylus 3000 wide format printer, that it seems Epson is just going to let die a quiet death. I am really getting tired of printing in Classic mode.
I do CD design and I use it for my clients proofs/mock-ups.
So I need a wide format (at least the 13x19 size super a3b) Mac, OSX panther compatble, postscript printer. Any suggestions?

These signatures are kind of silly aren't they? I mean do you really say the same frase every time you have an actual conversation with someone? Probably not. But hey, what do I know?

Epsons new 7-color printers produce some incredible inkjets, especially on premium luster or watercolor paper. That extra grey ink really smooths out those soft gradients that tend to band on older printers. But you have to purchase the RIP seperatley to print postscript.

I run an Epson 3000 from Jaguar. You have to do both driver updates to make it work and Illustrator 10 is still a little weird about selecting paper type from the driver but it works. Usually.
Sad they have a dedicated help support line just for the 3000. As for new ones, don't know yet what I'd get to replace it. Looking at both HP and Epson. Jury still out.

I just returned an HP cp 1700ps (paid the extra $100 for the RIP software) - and while it printed great graphically. I could not come up with a setting to represent the color (Pantone nor CMYK) accurately. It had to go back. I'm on PC, Windows 2000 Professional. Was printing from QuarkXpress 4.1 and/or to PDF - nothing worked.
I had an Espon 3000 - 2 years ago running from my Mac and at the time I remember it representing color quite well.
Any opinions on the new Epsons? If so which models and why or why not?
Cheers CJo.
