Do you need to have a business license to do freelance design work?

Where are you located? Are you planning on paying taxes? Give us a bit more info...

Based in Washington, and wanting to start a real design biz, but would just like to stick with freelance for now. Just wondering about the transition.

Not sure how it is in Washington, I have a freelance biz here in Wisconsin, and I run it as a LLC. I would just call a lawyer and see if they will give you some advice. I know a lawyer so he set it all up for me, but you may get lucky and find a cheep one... (ya right)

Talk to the secretary of states office. They should give you all the info you need. Your state's Web site should have an email contact for their office.
