Eeeek - New Company Name registered

Hey all,

After recovering from last weeks stupidly bizzare hours of work I've been setting myself a new challenge... finding a good name and web-domain for when I start my new company.

As some of you may know, my current company name 'Digital Licensing Ltd' is a basic and as dull as dushwater, but has served me well so far.

I wanted to go with something a little more associated with design...

There were lots of quirky fun options like the following:

Twist Box Designs
Lemon Twist Designs
Red Fizz Designs
Flux Cap Designs
Zephyr Art Designs
Arty Pants Creative
Pep Juice Designs
Zip Box Art
Ingenious Designs
Idyllic Designs
Image Box Designs
Doodle Box Designs
Vision Box Designs
Zip Dash Designs

but unsurprisingly most of which are registered!

So after discovering that most English combinations have been registers (esp under .com) I turned to other languages and of course my own name - Burton designs, but not so fun or clever.

Then there's Latin... praise the lord for this dead language!

Lots of words like:

Creo - Create
Genero - Create
Fortuno - To make happy
Navitas - Energy
Totus - Entire
Somnium - a Dream
Somnio - to dream
Quantus - as Great as
Primoris - Top, Highest

and from many other words i kept coming back to Somnio - to dream

And so my new company name, and registered domain will be

Somnio Designs
www.somniodesigns.com

Obviously I have to create the logo, website and everything so it's not advertising yet! (mods)

I like the name a lot - it's cool.

But, not to rain on your parade, some people may make a Somnio-Insomnia link, and either think that you're an insomniac or any other sleep deprived association. Not sure if that's a bad thing though!

However, I still think it's cool - there's a heap of visual images and identity that comes to mind straight away when I think of dreams! Lots fo stuff that will look classy, cool and professional.

i thought about the Insomnia think, and I could have used Somnium but technically Insomnia is to not sleep, Somnio is to sleep and dream... there was enough difference for me to be comfortable.

I'm just awaiting the setup for the email and space options... most likely i will use paul@somniodesigns.com for most communication... if anyone wants to try it out and see what happens I would appreciate it.

I think it's a great name. The fact you may have to explain it to people is always a great introduction to a conversation with a possible future client.
