Corsa text...

There's an advert in the uK for a car called the Vauxhall Corse; at the end of the add the Name 'Corsa' comes up and morphs into the shape of the car, still reading as corsa, just distorted into the car's shape... My question is............. How? /DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Is it possible to use some sort of mask to distort your text to the shape of an outline/path? Or would you have to convert to outlines and manually alter the shape???

the envelope distort feature can sort of do that, it just may need some extra tweaking.

Your best bet is to use the 'make with top object' under the envelope distort. I quickly tried duplicating the effect of the corsa fitting a car silhouette, but the envelope feature was still far from perfect and looked as if quite a bit of tweaking would be necessary, but it might be a start.

Have the start word, and the finished shape... them make steps between to create the blend. The Corsa advert has it on screen for about 2 seconds, that's not too many frames

this little set of frames took about 8 mins to do... all you'd need then is to make a vector animation from them.

obviously you'd do 20 to 30 fps as an animation but it's easy to create the steps in illy

Red's right, I forgot that the blend tool works well if you have your start point and your end point, then just blend each individual letter in illustrator in a set numebr of steps, drop the end result in Flash (or something like it) and you're good to go.
