I use libraries alot for all of my classified headings for one of our newspapers.
It's easy..and convenient.
All you do is File>New>Library
It will ask you to name the Library and where to save it so do that.
To open the Library its just File>open>then choose your library
To add things to your library, just drag them from your Quark document into the Library palette. Easy!
To place them in your document, just drag them from your library palette to your document. Easy!
To delete something from your library, just click what it is you wanna delete and click 'delete' on your keyboard.
And there you have it! Easy as 1,2, 3 :oP
Good luck! /DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/thumbsup.gif

D-Zine-
thanks, worked wonderfully, can you create subdirectories using Quark's library function?

I don't think so but I'm not 100% sure on that. You can just make seperate libraries for different categories if you need to.
Glad if worked for ya! YAY /DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/smilewinkgrin.gif

Yes you can create subdirectories in the Library by 'labeling' your item. Double click and type in your directory. After labeling all your items ie., logos, printermarks, copyblocks, etc, you can then go to the drop down menu on the library and bring up just the logos, or just the printermarks etc. Libraries are one reason I continue to use Quark, that I can't find in InDesign.
Also, if you ever have a situation where your Quark file corrupts and will not save, the Library can save you. Simply select all, note the X&Y coordinates and move to the Library. Close the file without saving. open a new document and drag your page elements in tact from the Library.

Viki-
Thanks for that last bit on saving a file that won't save. Probably only works for single page doc though but very helpful as that's all I usually work with.

Viki, the Libraries in Indesign can be created under File>New>Library. Works similar to Quark.

Thanks! - That's good to know, I have only been using InDesign for a couple months. I cling to my old friend Quark as it is like breathing.
And as far as multiple pages...not a problem, just save each page as a separate library item. In a pinch, it is still better than having to recreate the file from scratch.
