Meh... What kind of sadistic b*stard deems it necessary for designers to start at 7am on a Saturday shift when there's barely a loose scraping of work available? I'm not certain, but evidently it's whoever does the timetables at this place.

Don't reply this. You're all probably still in bed like any sane person would be.
I need coffee. And about 3-4 more hours sleep. Or perhaps a head transplant...

I would've taken over the world, but I got distracted by shiny things.

Where do designers work on Saturdays?

I used to have to be in by 4 am at Coneco to do Prepress work. It was crazy. Burned a couple of plates and then sat around and played on the net the rest of the 8 hours. Crazy poo! Of course they did go out of business. Can't imagine why?! ha!

7 am....that doesn't exist in my vocabulary....lol.

"Sometimes I do what I want...most of the time, I do what I have to." (Cicero, from "Gladiator")

"There is a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path." (Morpheus, from"The Matrix")

"It's not cheating if you win...do what you have to do, but don't sacrifice your own honour in the process." (Taken from my iaido instructor, and modified by me)

"I am serving my time in hell on earth...at the job I am currently employed at." (Magnus, about his job)

And you know it's bad when you grunt in mixed cases!

The dreaded Saturday shift seems to be there purely to clean up after those lovely people who work up in sales (I work for a newspaper). What joy!

7am... There's something inherently wrong about waking up when the first digit on the clock is a 6. Either 6, it just isn't right. 2 days a week? much respect. I'd probably develop narcolepsy or something...

seriously? Yes.

I'll suddenly arrive at home and say 'how the heck did I get here?!?'

Unfortunately, on the way TO work I often find my eyelids growing heavy about halfway into the drive. I was just saying to cat today that I may need to start getting up earlier and running through some exercises to get the blood flowing. It's hard enough getting up at 5:30, I just can't picture anything earlier!

I use to commute 30 min to work and 30 min back when I lived in SC. At first it was rough but after awhile I got use to it and could do it practically in my sleep like PD said. Humm..could explain how I hit that deer but anyways...I found that the drive home was good for calming me after a stressful day of fixing screwed up files from clients! LOL! That 30 min or so helped me relax...well, that and some great tunes :oP

Yeah, well I'm gonna have a 45 minute commute each way in my new job - how do you guys cope? What do you do with the time? Is it worth getting something like language CDs to listen to or do they not work? At the moment, it takes me about 5 minutes to get there so I'm not looking forward to the hike in commute time.

sadly, my commute is not the least bit relaxing, as it involves being stuck in bumper to bumper traffic at approximately 80 miles per hour. I handle my road rage by daydreaming about what I could do if I had turrets mounted on each side of my car...

honestly, I listen to a news station on the radio. Sometimes I borrow neuro's iPod and listen to audio books. I have never tried language tapes, but have been debating on giving that a try too.

I was completely serious above when I said that my mind blanks out and I suddenly realize that I have reached my destination... I think that it is my brain's attempt to be merciful, because driving around here is quite stressful. I have been doing this for about 4 months, and after about 2 it had become pretty much 2nd nature to me.

I used to have an hour commute by train, now I moved closer to the city... 20 minute commute, 2 trains.
And I used to drive an hour for some 'easy work' as my ex-boss put it...

But 4:30??? How much coffee do you pump into yourself?

When you wake up I start telling myself I should think about sleep....

Power to the Driver!!!
