Hi everyone
im new to this forum, and to graphic arts. I am a total noob when it comes to all this stuff, but im very eager to learn. And i figure what better place to start than with ppl that know all about ithttp://www.graphicdesignforum.com/DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/worshippy.gif

I have played with photostudio and photoshop a bit but that is about it so far. But i have caught the bug big time.

The thing that i am wondering about at the moment is - I seen a picture that had an affect that was sparkling glitter but it was annimated (ie: the glittery part was shimmering and moving). I hope i have descibed it well enough for you to understand.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time

it's an animated GIF most likely

'I will become the most powerful Jedi ever!'
'I'm the damn designer, bitches!'

its not my image it is one i recieved in an email. I dont like the thought of using someones image that they have worked on without their permission. And as i cant get that. As it was passed on to me through someone else.
Even if i could get permission i think that the image would be too big to attach to here.

I have also seen this used to make water look like it is moving(well i think it is the same affect)

If it is a GIF how would i go about doing that?

you could google 'animated gif tutorials' - I think you can do them in Image Ready

www.htmlgoodies.com/tutorials/web_graphics/article.php/3479881 (http://www.htmlgoodies.com/tutorials/web_graphics/article.php/3479881)

also check out www.designertoday.com (http://www.designertoday.com) - there is all kinds of information on there. /DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/cheers.gif

For the record, if you want to show us someone else's image for the purpose of us looking at it and showing you how to do it, there's nothing wrong with that. If you were to then sell that image as your own work, or use it in a live project, then you'd have problems.

Good luck.

Loscann, I took a look at the image you sent me, and I'm not sure how the artist did it, but I think I can come up with a way that will at least be comparable.

1. Make multiple layers of the original image for later use as animation frames ImageReady.
2. It appears that noise was added to certain parts of the image where the stars and movement occurs. Select the areas you want animated and add noise. Then repeat this process several times so that the noise creates random variations. When you animate this later, it will appear to be moving.
3. Add differnt sized stars at different angles on each of the noise layers, making their positions move in a linear progression so that they appear to be moving when you animate later.
4. Once you have several layers (maybe 7 or 8), arrange them in order, with the first in the series in the bottom of your layers palette in Photoshop.
5. Now open your file in ImageReady.
6. In the animation palette, make each layer a frame.
7. Decide how long you want each frame to display (probababy 1 sec. or less)
8. Save as an animation .GIF (Save optimized as...)

Post your final product when you're done!
