I am having a huge problem when printing from Quark 4.1 in Mac OS X's classic environment. I am trying to printout ps files to Acrobat Distiller to make pdfs.

What's happening is this... Everything will be going along just fine and then out of nowhere when I go to change the printer description: to acrobat distiller, the printer description: highlights and stays lit locking up quark and os 9. I have to do multiple restarts and trash the Quark preferences file and eventually quark starts up (until the next crash)

I notice sometimes when I restart Classic, the 'print monitor' icon shows up in the dock and again, everything locks up. I've reinstalled the os 9 software from the Additional Software & Apple Hardware Test CD. I also ran the Apple hardware test which found nothing. After that I had to rebuild the desktop to get the icons to show up properly.

Does anyone know of an answer, or has anyone had this problem? Thanks in advance.

Randy, I moved your thread into the Quark forum so it would attract the right people to respond. /DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/cheers.gif

Someone at the Quark forum mentioned having to choose the printer ppd from the classic side rather than the X side to get it to work.
Corrupt Fonts have been blamed.
Someone also mentioned trashing certain printer prefs instead of the Quark prefs but I don't remember.
I don't usually distill from 4 in Classic. Just print. No issues.

Another thing that may be the culprit is that the ppd isn't there, either moved or deleted... That has happened to me before

What we are going to do here is go back,
way back,
back in time.

i got a letter from the gubberment the other day...

Thank you all for your responses. I reinstalled the printer software for all our printers and that seemed to do the trick.
