So ... I'm going to be sending out my CV soon, in hope to find a position for web/new media design, with hope of getting some printing experience ... but I'm not sure how to approach the speculative letter.
Anybody got any tips or advice?

I have a good one at home... pm me your email address and I'll send it to you so you can review it and see if it will point you in the right direction.

the rest of you's can all chime in too, cause I'm sure there's someone out there in GD land that has more experience with this than me! /DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/lol.gif

Hell ... if I was in a great job right now, I'd give what help I could (alas, I'm self employed, and want the comfort and conveniences of BEING employed).
What does CV stand for again?

1984 ... you make a very good point. As most people here are American (bless y'all), I should probably have said 'resume' (though, why us Brits know what both CV and Resume are, but Americans don't, is beyond me, lol).
Clarification:
CV = Ciriculum Vitae (aka. Resume)

That little 2-page breakdown is very useful ... much more concise than most of the material that i've gathered so far.
It's also nice to see your sample, so as to get a view of a real letter that was sent out into the world, rather than just relying on bullet points.

that letter actually got an interview from a company who was not hiring... they were trying to create a position for me, but were not able to work it into their budget.
